Darul reimposes smartphone ban
Agra: In a move to ensure student discipline, Darul Uloom Deoband has enforced a strict ban on the use of smartphones within its premises. The decision, announced on Tuesday, aims to "maintain discipline among students and keep them focused on their academic and spiritual pursuits".
An order issued by Maulana Mufti Ashraf Abbas, hostel in-charge, stated: "Any student, new or old, found in possession of a smartphone during inspection will face immediate expulsion (akhraj). The management has clarified mere possession, regardless of usage, will be grounds for disciplinary action."
Mufti Ashraf Abbas stated that the ban was necessary to prevent distractions and ensure students remain committed to their studies and the core objectives of their education at Darul. He emphasised that the rule is part of efforts to instil a sense of responsibility and dedication among students.
This is not the first time Darul Uloom took such a step. A similar ban was enforced last year, during which phones were seized following room searches in the hostel.
